Pastor Ivy O. WheelerExecutive Pastor
Dr. Ivy O. Wheeler has been the Pastor of Faith Tabernacle Full Gospel Baptist Church for the past ten years. She is a native of Champaign, Illinois; the daughter of ministerial parents, beloved wife of the Late Bishop Lloyd A. Wheeler, mother of four sons and has a host of grandchildren, one great grandson and two great granddaughters.
Growing up in church, the Word of God became a vital influence in her life. As an inspirational speaker in both church and secular settings, her words motivated listeners to seek the best for their lives. She has worked untiringly in Kingdom building for over 40 years as a teacher, ministry leader and inspirational women’s speaker, First Lady and now Pastor.
Lovingly known as Pastor Ivy, she is truly dedicated and never allows trouble or trials to stop progress, but moves ahead believing “it’s already done.” She continues the legacy her husband started, the Helping Hand Food Ministry which is in its 17th year of distributing food boxes monthly to those less fortunate. During these ten years of faithful leadership her visions for this ministry continues to move forward; the membership is increasing, and she has established several ministries for members spiritual progress such as: Youth, Young Adults, Men’s, Praise Dance, Children’s Church, Vacation Bible School, Stewardship, Street Evangelism, Feeding the Homeless and Social Media. She teaches and conducts a Discipleship Class for new members, a weekly Bible Study and Intercessory Prayer session.
Pastor Ivy leads by example; teaching, preaching, serving, making disciples and letting all know that our focus must be on Jesus. She attended several colleges while a Civil Servant and retired from Sandia National Laboratories. However, no achievement has been as rewarding as becoming a Minister of the Gospel and receiving her Doctorate in Religious Education from the World Institute of Religious Education. She is a generous soul as well as an anointed and dedicated leader to whom God has given a double portion as she is committed to following His ways and that of His Son, Jesus Christ.
In February 2018 Pastor Wheeler received an Everyday Heroes Award for Outstanding Vision, Dedication and Commitment to Excellence in the African American Community of New Mexico, 2017-2018, from the Office of African American Affairs.
